[Gloucester Cathedral] has been a place of worship continuously for 1,300 years. More recently, it was used for several scenes in the Harry Potter movies. since I’ve never met a tower I didn’t want to climb, I conjoled Roseann into taking the 269 steps to the top of the Bell tower, passing through the Ringing Chamber and the Bell Chamber (where they rang one of the bells for us). One of the 12 bells is Great Peter, England’s only remaining medieval [Bourdon] bell weighing 6000 lbs. The bells are rung by hand at Evensong every Sunday, with a practice session on Tuesdays. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gloucester_cathedralhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bourdon_%28bell%29shapeimage_3_link_0shapeimage_3_link_1
