[Stourhead] is a 2650-acre 18th century estate & garden built by Henry Hoare II, a banker and garden designer and head of C. Hoare & Co (founded by his father), which is still in business as England's oldest privately owned bank. Nearby is King Alfred’s Tower, considered one of the finest triangular follies (a structure with no specific purpose and often built in commemoration of an event). The 205-step [King Alfred’s Tower] was completed in 1772 to commemorate the accession of George III and peace with France after the Seven Years War, and offers a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside from 1000 feet above sea level.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stourheadhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bankhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Alfred%27s_Towershapeimage_3_link_0shapeimage_3_link_1shapeimage_3_link_2
